10 AMAZING PLACES TO GO IN POLAND





1. Market Square Krakow




Dating back to the 13th century, the Main Market Square in the Old Town in Kraków is the largest medieval town square in Europe and one of the main tourist attractions in Poland. The square is surrounded by historical townhouses, historic buildings, palaces and churches. The center of the square is dominated by the Cloth Hall, rebuilt in 1555 in the Renaissance style, topped by a beautiful attic.



2. Auschwitz – Birkenau





A visit to Auschwitz-Birkenau is a must when visiting Krakow. It will be a powerful experience that words can hardly describe. Go on a tour through the administrative camp (Auschwitz I) and the actual extermination camp Auschwitz-Birkenau. Auschwitz is yearly visited by 25 million people.

3. Old market place Warsaw





Founded in the late 13th century, Warsaw and the city’s central marketplace were the heart of Polish culture for five centuries. The original Old Town Market Place was destroyed in World War II but was carefully reconstructed almost immediately after the war ended. The market square features a bronze sculpture of the Warsaw mermaid, the symbol of Poland’s capital.




4. Wieliczka salt mines





Wielizkcka salt mine was built in the 13th century and produced table salt until 2007. Nowadays the mine is a museum, whit dozens of statues, three chapels and an entire cathedral which is carved out the rock salt by the miners. The mine is yearly visited by 1.2 million people.




5. Wawel Castle





The Wawel Castle is located on the Wawel Hill in Krakow, and was built in the 14th century. They both are the most historically and culturally sites in Poland. Inside the castle is an art museum with an collection of Italian Renaissance paintings.




6. Slowinski Sand Dunes





Situated in northern Poland, the Slowinski Sand Dunes are part of the Slowinski National Park located on the coast of the Baltic Sea. The dunes were formed as waves and wind carried sand onshore. Their forms change with every season, this is also known as “moving dunes”. There are around 140 kilometers of walking trails for tourists.




7. Zakopane





Zakopane is a lovely village situated near the Tatra mountain. It is the place to be when it comes to winter sports and in the summers tourists come to hike on the lovely mountains. The inhabitants of Zakopane are very attached to their culture and traditions. Their houses are all made out of wood and are decorated with lovely flower patterns.




8. Gdansk Old Town





The Old Town of Gdansk, also known as Stare Miasto, includes beautiful 17th century architecture, including granaries, mills and churches. Gdansk has the largest brick church in the world! The St. Mary’s Church is 105.5 meters long and 66 meters wide, and inside the church is room for 25,000 people




9. Masurian Lakeland





Masurian Lakeland is a lake district located in north-eastern of Poland. It contains more than 2000 lakes! The district offers a wide range of outdoor activities and can be reached by train, bus or car. The district has been elected as one of the 28 finalists of the New7Wonders of Nature, an initiative to create a list of seven natural wonders chosen by people through a global poll.




10. Bialowieza Forest





The Bialowieza Forest is one of the last and largest remaining part of the immense primeval forest and lies on the border with Belarus.
The forest has been listed on the UNESCO World Heritage list and is yearly visited by 100,000 tourists. There is also a small animal park with bison’s, wild boards, deer’s, wolfs and lynx.
